Working with athletes to assist them in meeting their performance goals requires coordination of many factors, one being their nutrition. For particular sports, such as wrestling, nutrition plays a crucial role in maintaining a lean body composition and optimal power-to-weight ratio throughout the season. Due to weight classes, many wrestlers have tried a variety of weight cutting strategies that are detrimental to performance. This article highlights the most recent research on how to make weight healthfully and maintain a balanced nutrition plan throughout a season to assist the athlete in reaching his/her performance goals.
